Oklahoma Tiered Interventions Systems of Support (OTISS)
This school year Anderson successfully implemented year one of the Oklahoma Tiered Interventions Systems of Support (OTISS) through Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Response to Interventions (RtI). Some of the great things emerging at Anderson through this implementation are data driven decisions, an increase in team communication, and evidence based practices for improving behavior and academics.
Year one has consisted of establishing universal behavior expectations throughout the school, reinforcing positive behavior through student GOTCHA’s, and piloting academic progress monitors. Amazing things began to happen when school- wide teams came together to support positive student behavior. Through the PBIS process, discipline decreased and expected behaviors increased. The behavior expectations were branded school wide through the development of Anderson’s Shield of Success: Be Kind, Be Honest, and Be Your BEST!
Many students were recognized for showing positive behaviors through GOTCHA’s, Shield of Success brag tags, and participating in the school's S.O.S monthly assembly. Assemblies became more exciting with teachers and students performing minute to win it games in front of the whole student body and classes joined together to create amazing student expectation videos.
We were also very excited to partner with Tulsa Tech to design and install Anderson’s Shield of Success. The collaboration of two educational identities joining together to successfully brand Anderson’s PBIS framework was monumental. Tulsa Tech students had the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and in return Anderson received an outstanding product.
Anderson's expectation is to enter the 2016-17 school year with hopes of achieving local and state recognition in becoming a model school for successfully implementing Oklahoma Tiered Intervention Systems of Support!!
