Science Fair

Students and Parents:

Many questions have been asked about the science fair.  The main questions seem to revolve around what we are looking for and how it should be presented.

All science fair projects MUST ask and answer a question.  All science fair projects should follow the Scientific Method:

1. Purpose-question

2. Hypothesis-educated guess

3. Procedure- research or experiment to prove hypothesis

4. Results-collection and records of data

5. Conclusions-accept or reject hypothesis

6.  New Hypothesis, if needed

Judges will also be looking for:

1. Creative Ability-originality

2. Scientific Thought-narrow topic and control of variables.

3. Thoroughness-intentions vs. what actually happened

4. Skill- how much help was required

5. Clarity -presentation of project

Grading:

Title - 5pts.

Question - 10pts.

Hypothesis - 15pts.

Procedure - 15pts.

Materials - 10pts.

Data Collection - 10pts.

Results - 15pts.

Conclusion - 10pts.

Appearance - 10pts.

Total - 100pts.
